Automatic activated carbon filtration equipment | Fully automatic backwashing · Highly efficient removal of residual chlorine and organic matter

This equipment uses high-quality coconut shell activated carbon as the filtration and adsorption medium, coupled with a fully automatic multi-way valve or pneumatic/electric valve assembly, to achieve fully automatic "filtration-backwash-forward wash" cycle operation. When the activated carbon layer becomes saturated with contaminants, the inlet and outlet water pressure difference increases, or a set time is reached, the equipment automatically starts backwashing to flush away the trapped substances on the surface and inside of the carbon layer, restoring adsorption and filtration capacity. The equipment requires no manual operation and can efficiently remove residual chlorine, color, odor, some organic matter, and trace suspended solids from water, making it a key pretreatment or advanced treatment unit in water treatment systems. It is widely used in drinking water purification, RO pretreatment, swimming pools, circulating cooling water, greywater reuse, and waste gas scrubbing tower circulating water treatment, among other fields.

Working principle

Filtration/Adsorption: Raw water enters the tank through a control valve and is evenly distributed on the activated carbon layer by a water distributor. The water flows downwards through the filter layer, where the activated carbon removes residual chlorine, organic matter, color, and odor through physical and chemical adsorption. The clean water is discharged through a bottom collection device.

Backwash: When the pressure differential reaches a set value or a timer is triggered, the control valve automatically switches to backwash mode. Water flows upwards into the tank, causing the activated carbon layer to expand, tumble, and rub against itself, washing away trapped impurities and fine carbon particles, which are then discharged through the drain port.

Forward Wash: After backwashing, forward washing occurs. The water flows downwards again to flush the carbon layer, recompacting the carbon bed and washing away residual impurities. The system then automatically returns to filtration mode. The entire process requires no manual intervention..
