FLOWSERVE Pump Shaft functions as the main rotating element in a centrifugal pump, transferring rotational energy from the prime mover to the impeller assembly. It must tolerate torsional stress, bending loads caused by impeller mass and hydraulic pressure, plus ongoing cyclic fatigue across years of operation. Additionally, the shaft provides the mounting surfaces for rolling bearings, rotary seals, impellers, and shaft sleeves.
A broken shaft typically results in a complete pump outage. Frequent failure mechanisms include fatigue cracks originating at keyway corners, bending deformation from vibration or misalignment, abrasive wear on seal and bearing contact areas, and corrosion damage in chemically harsh media. A shaft manufactured from correctly selected material, with accurately machined journal finishes and suitable thermal processing, has a direct effect on pump dependability and operating life between overhauls.
Our FLOWSERVE replacement shafts are made from traceable bar stock or forged preforms, precision-machined on CNC turning and grinding centers, and individually verified for dimensional compliance, concentricity, and surface quality. FARO 3D scanning technology is offered as a reverse-engineering option when OEM drawings are not available.
