Product Overview

The Schneider BMXNOM0200 is a Modicon X80 serial communication module providing two configurable RS-232 or RS-485 communication ports. It supports Modbus communication and character-mode data exchange.

The module is used in Modicon M340 and compatible X80 systems that need to communicate with serial devices such as drives, energy meters, barcode readers, weighing equipment, printers, protocol converters and legacy controllers.

Each application must be checked for the correct electrical interface, baud rate, parity, data format, Modbus addressing and character-mode framing. The BMXNOM0200 is not an Ethernet communication module.

The BMXNOM0200 is suitable for serial communication with Modbus drives, motor controllers, meters, weighing systems, barcode scanners, printers, protocol converters and legacy automation equipment.

RS-485 is commonly used for compatible multidrop Modbus networks, while RS-232 may be used for shorter point-to-point connections. The actual interface and topology must match the connected device.

Character mode can be used for devices that exchange custom ASCII or binary data rather than standard Modbus messages. Message framing and application logic must be restored from the original Control Expert project.

Record both port configurations, including RS-232 or RS-485 mode, baud rate, parity, stop bits, Modbus address, master or slave role and character-mode framing.

The existing cable, terminal block and connector pinout must be checked. Incorrect RS-232 or RS-485 wiring can prevent communication or damage connected interfaces.

After replacement, test each port independently and verify communication with every connected serial device.
