Key Features:

Overcharge Protection: Cuts off the charging current when any cell voltage exceeds a safe upper limit (e.g., 4.25V for ternary lithium), preventing electrolyte decomposition and thermal runaway.

• Over-discharge Protection: Disconnects the load when cell voltage falls below a minimum threshold (e.g., 2.5V-3.0V), protecting against capacity loss and cell reversal.

• Overcurrent & Short-Circuit Protection: Detects and interrupts excessive discharge currents or short circuits, typically using high-speed MOSFETs rated for 20A continuous current, safeguarding the pack and connected devices from damage.

• Temperature Monitoring: Integrates a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor to monitor battery temperature. It can trigger protection or send alerts if temperatures exceed safe operating windows.

• Cell Balancing: Many smart BMS units incorporate passive balancing, where a small resistor bleeds off excess charge from the higher-voltage cell in the pack during charging. This ensures both cells reach full charge simultaneously, improving capacity utilization and longevity. Advanced models may feature active balancing with greater efficiency.
