Dye Penetrant Testing Agent | High Sensitivity Level 2, Water
Removable
Dye penetrant testing is one of the simplest and most effective
nondestructive testing methods. It provides unique advantages in
detecting surface-breaking defects that affect the service life of metallic and non-metallic
components as well as the safety of pressure vessels, including
welding cracks, fatigue cracks, stress corrosion cracks, grinding
cracks and quenching cracks. It features high detection
sensitivity, fast results, good repeatability and intuitive
display. Due to these merits, dye penetrant testing plays an
increasingly important role in quality assurance systems across
industries such as machinery, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical
engineering, railway, transportation, shipbuilding, mining,
construction, aviation, aerospace, power generation, pressure
vessel manufacturing and national defense.
Dye penetrant testing materials can be completely removed with
water, resulting in low testing costs. They are especially suitable
for flaw detection on rough surfaces of raw materials and large
components, with a minimum sensitivity of Level 2 (intermediate).
This product is applicable to penetrant testing of rough surfaces
such as castings, forgings, plates, bars and other metal raw
materials, large parts and structures requiring Level 2
sensitivity, used in chemical, shipbuilding, railway, petroleum,
heavy machinery, metallurgy, military and pressure vessel
industries.
Operation Procedure
- Pre-cleaning: Thoroughly remove all contaminants such as scale, rust, grease,
etc., from the workpiece surface using a cleaning agent.
- Penetrant application: Let the workpiece and test block dry for 5–10 minutes, then apply
penetrant. Hold the nozzle 20–30 mm away from the surface. Apply
penetrant as instructed, usually for 5–15 minutes, ensuring the
test surface is fully wetted.
- Cleaning: Remove excess penetrant from the workpiece surface using cleaning
agent or water (water pressure ≤ 1.5 kg/cm²).
- Developing: After fully mixing the developer, spray it evenly from a distance
of about 300 mm. Defects will become visible shortly after
development.
- Post-inspection cleaning: Remove the developer using cleaning agent or water after
inspection.
- Handle and preserve the workpiece in accordance with process
requirements.
