Product Overview

The OMRON XG4 series flat cable connectors are designed to be the mainstream of circuit board connectors conforming to MIL Standards with improved design. They offer space-saving box-type plugs (XG4C), IDC plugs (XG4E) for relaying, and compatibility with discrete wire IDC connectors (XG-5), original plugs (XG8), and PCB IDC connectors (XG2). The original plugs (XG8) and box-type plugs (XG4C) feature lock levers for secure connection. These connectors conform to MIL standards (MIL-C-83503) and are RoHS compliant.

Usage and Advantages:

• Recommended for high-density mounting.
• MIL-compliant cable ensures faster delivery times and lower cost than half-pitch board cable.
• The 2.54-mm pitch simplifies patterning.
• Polarity guides and slots, along with optional Polarizing Keys and Coding Pins, help prevent reverse and erroneous insertion.
• Lock levers provide secure mating for XG8B, XG8W, and XG4C plugs.

Precautions

• Correct Use:
• Mounting: Anchor the board with screws before mounting. Polarizing Key cannot be mounted on the lower Plug.
• Connecting Socket: Remove slack from cable before connecting XG4M with Strain Relief. Attach Semi-cover before connecting XG5M-N; Hood Cover cannot be used.
• Soldering: Automated Soldering Conditions (Jet Flow): Soldering temperature 250 5C, continuous soldering time within 51s. Solder-mount XG4A with lock levers fully closed or open to prevent thermal deformation.
• Lock Lever Operation: Do not force lock lever past movable range. Do not use tools; operate by hand. Always release lock mechanism before disconnecting. Store lock levers fully closed or open to prevent loosening due to plastic deterioration.
