The 5466-348 is a NetCon SIO (Serial I/O) module for the Woodward NetCon 5000B platform, designed specifically for industrial turbine control and automation systems. The module is equipped with three independent RS-485 serial communication ports, each capable of connecting to one EM or GS/LQ series digital actuator driver, enabling high-speed data exchange and remote parameter management between the control system and field actuators.
The module transmits valve position commands issued by the controller to each actuator driver in a high-precision 16-bit format, while simultaneously reading back the actuators' operating parameters and fault statuses, enabling operators to remotely configure and diagnose driver parameters without having to be on-site. In the digital electro-hydraulic (DEH) control system of a steam turbine at a certain thermal power plant, the 5466-348 is used to connect the DEH controller to the actuator drivers of the high-pressure main steam valve and the regulating steam valve.
Each RS-485 port transmits valve position commands at 5 ms intervals. The independent channel design ensures that the control loops for each valve do not interfere with one another, maintaining the synchrony and stability of valve responses under varying unit load conditions.
