Product Details

The Battery Case Pressure Testing System is designed for evaluating the mechanical strength and pressure resistance of battery enclosures used in battery-powered appliances with metal-ion chemistry batteries.

According to IEC 60335-1:2020 Appendix BB-20.1, this equipment simulates abnormal battery venting conditions by applying controlled internal pressure to verify whether the battery enclosure can withstand pressure generated during a fault condition.

Test Principle

The specimen is pressurized using a manual pump until the initial pressure reaches 2070 kPa ±10%. The pressure is monitored through the built-in pressure gauge, while the piston stroke mechanism controls the pressure adjustment process.

After reaching the specified initial pressure, the required air volume is injected through a Φ2.85 ±0.05 mm orifice according to the standard requirement. The pressure reduction process is then monitored, and the internal pressure shall decrease to below 70 kPa within 30 seconds.

For the manual version, the injected air volume is controlled by the operator according to the test requirement.
