Product Overview

BWD-01 is a concentrated cationic organic polymer based on dicyandiamide-formaldehyde resin. It is developed for the treatment of difficult colored wastewater containing dispersed pigments, dyes, emulsified substances and negatively charged colloidal particles.

In selected oily wastewater treatment systems, BWD-01 can replace part or all of the bentonite traditionally used as a mineral adsorbent. The appropriate replacement ratio depends on oil content, color source, emulsion stability, pH and the other chemicals used in the treatment process.

BWD-01 should be evaluated through a comparative jar test before full-scale application. It is not presented as a universal replacement for bentonite or as a stand-alone demulsifier for every type of oily wastewater.
02

Why Bentonite May Underperform

Common Bentonite Limitations

Physical adsorption may not effectively remove dissolved dyes and stable emulsions.
High dosage can introduce large quantities of mineral solids.
Sludge volume and dewatering pressure may increase.
Performance may fluctuate when color, oil or surfactant loading changes.

BWD-01 Treatment Approach

Strong cationic charge neutralization.
Destabilization of negatively charged dyes and colloids.
Compatible with PAC and anionic PAM.
Potential reduction in mineral solids entering the sludge system.
03

BWD-01 Treatment Solution

BWD-01 provides strong cationic charge neutralization. It destabilizes negatively charged colored molecules and fine colloidal particles so that they can combine into larger aggregates.

When used with PAC and a small amount of anionic polyacrylamide, BWD-01 can support faster floc formation, more complete settling and clearer treated water.

Faster color removal than bentonite-only treatment
Lower mineral adsorbent consumption
Less inorganic material entering sludge
Faster flocculation and sedimentation
Improved treated-water clarity
More stable operation under changing color loads
Potentially lower sludge-handling pressure
Under suitable conditions, existing applications may achieve approximately 50% to 99% color removal and 50% to 80% COD reduction. Actual results depend on wastewater composition, dosage, pH, mixing conditions and the complete treatment process. These values are not guaranteed performance figures.

Application Scenarios

Colored Oily Industrial Wastewater

Suitable for evaluation where visible color and dispersed oil occur together, especially when bentonite consumption or sludge generation is high.

Paint and Coating Wastewater

Helps neutralize fine pigments, resins and dispersants that remain stable after conventional coagulation.

Printing Ink and Pigment Wastewater

Supports removal of highly dispersed pigments and negatively charged color bodies that are difficult to settle.

Metalworking Fluid Wastewater

Can be incorporated into a combined program for color, emulsified organics and fine suspended particles.

Mixed Industrial Effluent

Can be tested in centralized systems where color and colloidal contamination vary between batches.

When oil removal is the primary problem, a suitable demulsifier should normally be tested before BWD-01.
06

How BWD-01 Works

1. Charge Neutralization

Cationic groups neutralize negatively charged dyes, pigments and colloidal particles.

2. Particle Destabilization

Electrostatic repulsion is reduced, allowing contaminants to form small aggregates.

3. PAC Coagulation

PAC can support coagulation and capture additional suspended impurities.

4. PAM Bridging

Anionic polyacrylamide bridges small aggregates into larger and stronger flocs.

5. Solid-Liquid Separation

Flocs are removed by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation or another separation process.

Because BWD-01 is an organic liquid chemical, it does not introduce mineral solids in the same way as bentonite. This may reduce inorganic sludge generation when the program is properly optimized.

07

Recommended Jar-Test Method

Characterize the wastewaterRecord pH, color, COD, oil and grease, and suspended solids.
Prepare BWD-01 working solutionDilute BWD-01 approximately 1:40 to 1:50 to prepare a 2% to 2.5% working solution.
Prepare PAC separatelySelect the PAC grade and prepare it according to the treatment requirement.
Prepare anionic PAMPrepare approximately 0.1% solution and allow complete dissolution.
Screen the pHUse pH 8 to 10 as an initial range and test nearby values.
Add PACMix rapidly for approximately 1 to 3 minutes.
Add diluted BWD-01Mix sufficiently for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Add anionic PAMMix slowly until large, visible flocs form.
Evaluate separationAllow settling or test the intended solid-liquid separation process.
Measure final performanceCompare color, COD, oil and grease, turbidity, settling speed and sludge volume.
Do not mix concentrated BWD-01 directly with PAC or polyacrylamide in the same storage tank. Prepare and dose each chemical separately.
08

How to Choose the Correct Treatment Program

Identify the Main Problem

Use BWD-01 primarily for color and negatively charged contaminants. Test a demulsifier first when free oil or stable emulsion is dominant.

Compare Full and Partial Replacement

Include a bentonite control, partial replacement and complete replacement in the jar test.

Evaluate More Than Color

Compare COD, oil and grease, turbidity, settling speed, sludge volume, dewatering and total chemical cost.

Match Downstream Equipment

Floc requirements differ for sedimentation, DAF, belt presses and chamber filter presses.

Confirm Through a Plant Trial

Monitor chemical consumption, treated-water quality and sludge production over several production cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can BWD-01 completely replace bentonite?

It may replace part or all of the bentonite in suitable colored oily wastewater, but the result depends on wastewater composition. A comparative jar test is necessary before complete replacement.

Does BWD-01 remove both oil and color?

Its main function is color removal and destabilization of negatively charged colloidal contaminants. Highly emulsified or high-oil wastewater may still require a demulsifier before BWD-01 treatment.

What is the recommended BWD-01 dosage?

There is no universal dosage because color, COD, oil content, pH and competing chemicals vary. Dosage should be determined by jar testing and confirmed through a controlled plant trial.

Why is BWD-01 used with PAC and anionic polyacrylamide?

BWD-01 neutralizes colored contaminants, PAC supports coagulation, and anionic polyacrylamide builds larger flocs for faster separation.

Can BWD-01 reduce sludge production?

Replacing a mineral adsorbent with an organic liquid polymer may reduce inorganic solids added to the system. Final sludge volume still depends on contaminant load, chemical dosage and the separation process.
