Frequently Asked Questions
Operation & General Information
What types of products can the 12-channel counter handle?
The machine is designed to count a wide range of solid dosages,
including tablets (coated or uncoated), hard gelatin capsules,
softgels, pills, and other similar solid products. It works for
shapes ranging from standard round tablets to oblong, oval, or
custom shapes.
How do I switch the machine over for a different product size or
shape?
Our 12-channel counter is designed for tool-less changeover. The
main steps include:
- Adjusting the hopper gate height to control the product flow
- Adjusting the track guides (vibrating lanes) to match the width of
the new product
- Replacing or adjusting the discharge funnel (nozzle) to match the
bottle neck size
- Loading the pre-saved product recipe from the HMI touch screen
(parameters like vibration frequency, optical sensitivity, and gate
delay will auto-load)
Troubleshooting & Common Issues
What should I do if the counting is inaccurate (over-counting or
under-counting)?
Counting errors are usually caused by feeding speed, dust, or
sensor misalignment. Please check the following:
- Dust Accumulation: Dust can block the infrared sensors. Wipe down the sensor
glass/lenses with a dry, lint-free cloth or clean compressed air.
- Vibration Speed: If the vibration is too fast, products may overlap (double-stack)
as they pass the sensor, causing under-counting. Reduce the
vibration frequency of the primary or secondary plates.
- Product Overlap: Adjust the separation gate height so that only a single layer of
tablets/capsules can pass through the lanes.
- Static Electricity: Static can cause pills to stick together or cling to the funnel.
Ensure the machine is properly grounded, or consider installing an
anti-static bar.
The alarm is triggered for "Sensor Blocked" or "Dust Accumulation."
How do I resolve this?
- Pause the machine
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the dust from the optical sensor
windows located at the drop point of the 12 channels
- If you are running highly dusty tablets, we highly recommend
connecting a dust extraction system (industrial vacuum) to the
built-in dust collection ports on the machine
- Resume operation. If the alarm persists, check the HMI sensor
diagnostics page to identify if a specific channel's sensor is
failing or needs recalibration
Why is the product backing up in the discharge funnel (nozzle)?
This is usually a timing or mechanical synchronization issue:
- Bottle Alignment: Ensure the bottle sensor is detecting the bottle correctly and the
bottle is perfectly centered under the filling nozzle
- Gate Timing: Check the HMI settings for "Gating Time" or "Dribble Feed Time."
The discharge gate might be opening before the bottle is fully in
place, or closing too quickly
- Nozzle Size: Ensure the nozzle diameter is appropriate for the bottle neck. If
the neck is too narrow, products may bridge and block the opening
Cleaning & Maintenance
How often should the machine be cleaned?
- Every Shift / Product Change: Perform a standard clean down. Remove all product contact parts
(hopper, vibrating plates, funnel) and clean them thoroughly to
prevent cross-contamination
- Daily: Clean the dust off the infrared sensor bars and wipe down the
exterior stainless steel frame
- Weekly: Deep clean the feeding tracks and check the pneumatic air
filter/regulator for any moisture accumulation
Are the contact parts washable?
Yes. All product contact parts (hopper, vibrating lanes, feed
gates, and discharge funnels) are made of 316L stainless steel (or
food-grade polymers) and can be fully disassembled without tools.
They can be washed with warm water and mild detergent. Ensure all
parts are completely dry before reassembling to prevent tablets
from sticking or dissolving.
Technical Specs & Integration
Can this 12-channel counter be integrated into an automatic
packaging line?
Absolutely. The machine features standard upstream/downstream
interlock signals. It easily integrates with bottle unscramblers,
desiccant inserters, capping machines, induction sealers, and
labeling machines. It uses a standard conveyor gating system
(starwheel or indexing pins) to control bottle flow.
What is the typical speed/throughput of this machine?
The output depends on the bottle count, tablet size, and product
characteristics. For a standard bottle count of 60 counts/bottle, a
12-channel counter typically achieves speeds of 40 to 70 bottles
per minute (BPM).
