108 Single Face Submersible Pump Seal Framework
The 108 single face submersible pump seal is a proven sealing
solution widely used in submersible pumps for clean water, sewage
and alkali water service. It combines a single face mechanical seal
with a framework oil seal, forming a double protection barrier that
keeps water out of the motor chamber even under submerged
conditions.
The multi-springs of this submersible pump seal do not contact the
medium, which prevents blocking by sand and debris, and the
double-balanced structure on the medium side maintains stable face
loading during operation. With a short inboard length, the 108
submersible pump seal fits compact submersible pump designs and is
easy to install and maintain.
This submersible pump seal operates with shaft diameters from 10 mm
to 55 mm, pressures up to 0.8MPa and media temperatures from -20°C
to 150°C. Low-pressure circulating water is introduced between the
primary seal and the oil seal, which improves lubrication of the
first seal face and carries off friction heat and leakage.
The rotary and stationary rings are available in carbon, silicon
carbide, tungsten carbide and ceramic, with O-rings in EPDM, NBR,
AFLAS, Kalrez or PTFE and springs and metal parts in SUS304 or
SUS316. Excellent wear-resistant friction pairs give the 108 single
face submersible pump seal a long service life in continuous
submerged duty.

Product Q&A
Q1: Why does a submersible pump seal need a framework oil seal?
A1: In submerged operation the seal must prevent water from
entering the motor chamber, not just stop leakage along the shaft.
The framework oil seal works together with the single face
mechanical seal in this 108 submersible pump seal, acting as a
secondary barrier that protects the motor even if the primary seal
face wears over time. This double protection is why the 108 model
is the preferred submersible pump seal for sewage and drainage
pumps.
Q2: Can this submersible pump seal handle sand and dirty water?
A2: Yes. The multi-springs of the 108 submersible pump seal do not
contact the medium, so sand and solid particles cannot block the
spring movement. The wear-resistant friction pairs, available in
silicon carbide or tungsten carbide, tolerate abrasive media, and
the low-pressure circulating water between the primary seal and oil
seal flushes the faces and carries away abrasive particles and
friction heat.
Q3: What are the operating limits of the 108 submersible pump seal?
A3: The 108 submersible pump seal covers shaft diameters from 10 mm
to 55 mm, working pressure from 0 to 0.8MPa, media temperature from
-20°C to 150°C and sliding velocity up to 10 m/s. The seal is
independent of the direction of rotation, which simplifies
installation in both clockwise and counter-clockwise rotating
submersible pumps.
Q4: Do you support OEM production of the 108 submersible pump seal?
A4: Yes. As a seal factory with over 30 years of experience, we
support OEM and ODM production of the 108 submersible pump seal,
including custom shaft sizes, special friction pair materials,
FDA-grade elastomers and private label packaging. Samples are
available before mass production, and a drawing proposal is
provided free of charge for bulk orders.
