Compared to traditional steel springs, titanium springs offer a weight reduction of over 40% while maintaining superior fatigue life and resilience; they are particularly well-suited for applications demanding significant weight reduction and corrosion resistance, such as aircraft landing gear, artificial joint implants, and deep-sea exploration equipment.

Processing

(1) Raw material preparation: Usually cold-drawn titanium alloy wire (AMS 4928/4979 standard) is used, with no cracks on the surface.

(2) Coiling and Molding: Cold coils are suitable for small springs with a wire diameter ≤3mm, requiring multiple passes with small deformation for winding; When the wire diameter > 3mm, use it in a protective atmosphere or vacuum furnace to prevent oxidation and hydrogen absorption.

(3) Heat treatment: Stress-relief annealing is performed between each process to eliminate work hardening and prevent cracking. For ultra-high strength requirements, solution + aging treatment can be selected.

(4) Surface treatment: Depending on the actual application, choose shot peening strengthening, friction-reducing coatings, or pickling passivation.

(5) Quality control: such as mechanical properties, metallographic inspection, non-destructive testing, appearance inspection, and dimensional accuracy checks; only qualified products can be shipped from the factory.
