The SMART-HM5U is a 5W 355nm UV laser online marking system purpose-built to replace traditional inkjet and TTO printers on packaging production lines. Unlike inkjet systems that require continuous ink and solvent replenishment, or TTO systems that consume expensive thermal transfer ribbons, the SMART-HM5U uses cold UV laser technology to create permanent codes directly on the printed film layer — producing a clear color-change mark with zero consumables.

Core Advantage: The UV laser acts on the existing printed film layer of the packaging material, causing a localized color-change reaction without burning, perforating or damaging the substrate. No ink. No ribbon. No solvents. Just clean, permanent, scannable codes.

• Real-Time Variable Data Marking: Automatically generates and marks variable content including production dates, expiry dates, time stamps, serial numbers, batch/lot numbers, GTIN codes, DM (DataMatrix) codes, QR codes, barcodes, logos and custom images — all synchronized with production line speed via encoder feedback.
• Batch Control Integration: Supports multi-level batch hierarchy (shift → batch → sub-batch → individual unit) with unique serialization per package for complete forward and backward traceability.
• Scanning-Ready Output: All marked codes are optimized for high-speed barcode scanners and vision inspection systems. QR and DM codes comply with GS1 Digital Link standards for consumer engagement and supply chain visibility.
• Database Connectivity: EZCAD control software supports ODBC / CSV import for variable data from ERP, MES and WMS systems, enabling automated coding workflows without manual data entry.
• Anti-Counterfeiting: Unique serialized QR codes with optional encrypted verification enable brand protection and gray market diversion tracking.

Warranty: 2 years on laser source and scanning system. Lifetime technical support via remote access, email and phone.
