2. Choose Between Direct Wall Fixing And Batten Installation

The most suitable fixing system depends largely on the flatness and condition of the existing wall. Direct installation can reduce material and labor requirements, while a batten or framing system can provide better alignment on uneven substrates.

3. Check The Wall Before Installation

The fixing system cannot correct every substrate problem. The wall should be inspected before panels, trims and adhesives are ordered.

• Check the wall for moisture, leakage, loose plaster and unstable paint.
• Measure wall flatness at several positions across the installation area.
• Remove dust, grease, wallpaper residue and materials that may reduce adhesive bonding.

Corners should be planned before the wall panels are cut. The project may use dedicated corner trims, mitre-cut panels, overlapping profiles or another custom detail.

8. Plan Expansion And Perimeter Clearances

WPC materials can change dimension when temperature and environmental conditions change. The installation should allow appropriate clearances at wall ends, corners, ceilings, floors and fixed objects according to the supplier's technical instructions.

9. Install Wood Battens Correctly

Wood battens can provide a level fixing surface, but unsuitable or unstable timber may cause later movement. The batten system should be designed according to the wall condition and panel installation direction.

• Use straight and dimensionally stable battens suitable for interior installation.
• Avoid installing wet or visibly warped timber behind finished wall panels.
• Fix battens securely to the structural wall rather than loose surface finishes.
• Set out battens in the correct direction for the selected panel orientation.
• Provide additional support around corners, openings, sockets and panel ends.
• Check that all batten faces are aligned before the WPC panels are installed.

10. Install Panels On Metal Framing

6. Cut the first panel accurately and verify its vertical or horizontal alignment.
7. Apply adhesive and mechanical fasteners according to the approved fixing method.
8. Connect each following panel without forcing or damaging the locking edge.
