Water naturally flows to lower elevations. The most beneficial locations for finding water are in pinch lands surrounded by mountains on three sides. Due to the low-lying terrain, groundwater flows toward the pinch mouth, making these areas highly probable for successful well drilling. Additionally, water accumulation is likely under mountain mouths at the intersection of two ditches where springs may be present.
