While slightly increasing molded part costs, this is typically balanced by eliminating manual post-molding operations. Lead time for overmolded and Core Insert molded parts is approximately 15 days—longer than standard injection molding but significantly faster than traditional Core Insert Molding methods.
Unlike overmolding's two-step process, Core Insert Molding is completed in a single operation: manual placement of threaded inserts, bushings, sleeves, or bosses into the mold, followed by mold closure, plastic injection, mold opening, and part ejection. This results in superior part strength and reliability.
