Elevator speed limiter is an important safety device in elevator system, which is used to monitor the speed of elevator operation and trigger emergency braking when overspeed, so as to protect the safety of passengers and equipment.

Elevator speed limiter is generally composed of the following main parts:

Speed Limiter mechanism (Governor mechanism): speed limiter mechanism is the core component to control the operation of speed limiter. It is usually composed of the main body of speed limiter, detection wheel, Cable (wire rope) and its connecting device, etc. The speed limiter mechanism is connected with the elevator car through the cable, and corresponding control is carried out according to the speed change of the elevator.

Speed limiting rope (Governor rope): The speed limiting rope is the wire rope connecting the speed limiting mechanism and the elevator car. It transmits relevant information to the speed limiter mechanism by monitoring the rope speed during the movement of the elevator, so as to judge whether the elevator is running normally.

Speed sensor (Speed sensor): the Speed sensor is used to detect the running Speed of the elevator in real time. It usually adopts magnetic or photoelectric sensing technology, which can accurately measure the speed of the elevator and transmit data to the speed limiter mechanism.

When the running speed of the elevator exceeds the set safe speed limit, the speed limiter mechanism will automatically trigger the emergency braking device to stop or slow down the elevator. In this way, accidents caused by elevator overspeed can be avoided and the safety of passengers and equipment can be ensured.
